The Choir
The Choir of the University of Milan was founded in 1990 as a part of the cultural activities promoted by the University. It is a mixed vocal ensemble, consisting mainly of students and staff of the University, but also includes choral music enthusiasts.
Initially under the musical direction of Maestro Renzo Galimberti, since September 2020 it is directed by Maestro Marco Berrini.
The Choir, which initially focused on the repertoire of the European goliardic tradition of German and Anglo-Saxon universities, now boasts a wide repertoire ranging from Gregorian chant to classical pieces, including Renaissance polyphony, Baroque, 19th and 20th-century works, both sacred and secular. Within the symphonic ensemble, a chamber ensemble has formed that is dedicated to the study of ancient and modern a cappella polyphony.
The Choir’s concert activity has continued uninterruptedly since its first performance in 1990. In recent years, the Choir has collaborated with the Orchestra UNIMI and various chamber ensembles for concerts and public performances.
